Van Arsdale PTSA

On Friday, November 20, 2015 Van Arsdale Elementary will host the annual Grandparent’s Day celebration!  Grandparents (or other “special guest” if grandparents cannot attend) are invited to spend time with students in their classroom and enjoy special performances.

The following times are scheduled for grandparents to visit student classrooms:

Kindergarten                              11:30 – 12:15

1^st grade                                         12:40 – 1:30

2^nd grade                                        1:10 – 2:00

3^rd grade and 4^th grade             1:35 – 2:30

6^th grade                                         2:05 – 3:00

5^th grade                                         2:20 – 3:15

There will be a light snack provided in each classroom or pod, and beverages will be located outside of each pod for convenience. A photo station will be available for grandparents to have a picture taken with their grandchild and receive a keepsake of this special day. Some of our Van Arsdale students will be providing ambient music near the cafeteria.

Parents:  If you have more than one student that a grandparent/special guest needs to visit and times overlap, please let them know that most teachers begin first with their program and then will allow the student to share their classroom and a snack. This will help grandparents plan their time so they can visit each classroom. Additionally, please note that there will be limited parking that day. If possible, we wish to save the closer parking places for those grandparents who are less mobile. It might also be helpful for parents to “drop off” grandparents that afternoon. There is no parking allowed in the bus loop; however, the bus loop will be available for drop-off only for those who need assistance getting into the building. Additionally, please remember this day is meant for your child to spend time with their grandparent or other special guest. If you wish to snap a few photos, it would be helpful if you do so quickly and then allow grandparents & grandchildren to have their special time together.

If your child does not have a grandparent or other special guest to attend this event, please let us know. Mr. and Mrs. Van Arsdale may be present and will try to spend time with these children.
